Hi! Long time no see! It’s been awhile since my last blog entry. I really wanted to keep up with a blog again, like the good ol’ days, but then 2020 happened to all of us. Looking back at my last 2020 post, alot of my goals flew out the window ‘cause of life but, I think what’s important is I’m still alive & still trying.
My dad passed away early in the year last year to cancer, my mom fell sick not long after that & I had to help with alot of things and I took somewhat of a hiatus from art because of everything. Additionally on top of that I had a major break up that was… a doozy.
I was mostly in a slump all of 2020 & my drive kind of died sadly because of responsibilities of taking care of paperwork etc for my mom which gave me a lot of anxiety to have someone’s livelihood in my hands. I did do art here and there but, 2020 was just a hard year that every time I tried to pick myself up, & thought I was getting back on track (because I felt like I was getting to where I wanted to be 2019) I’d get knocked back down again where I got disheartened. Then, when I did have time to “relax” I just wanted to play games to zone out. I streamed still at least, because my community helped me keep some sanity amongst everything going on. Instead of “art with a sprinkle of games” it turned into “games with a sprinkle of art” & I def did feel bad for that but, also I’m grateful for my slime community who was there supporting me regardless of what I did.
Things are still… crazy, and I’m trying to find extra jobs outside of freelance, hopefully something in house, ‘cause of my worries of family life & thinking of the future.
Anyways, outside of looking for more jobs, & wanting to finally re-open my store hopefully, I thought about going back to school but, that’s a bit pricey. Then, I remembered art youtubers I followed promoting Skillshare (yeah, they got me). I thought I’d give it a try since I got 2 months free and it’s been exciting! There’s so many classes I want to take. So far, I’ve taken an animation class because though I know how to do basic animation, I’ve never been that confident but, I want to fix that! Especially since I did consider doing animation for a career choice before. The one class I took so far is fairly basic, so most of what I already know but, I did learn how to animate in procreate and also more about animation smears - here’s a little test of a tootin’ slime~
